School Rebuilding Programme (SRP)
How SRP cost-per-place compares
SRP standard schemes target around £20-24k per primary place and £29-35k per secondary place[LGA]. Standard designs deliver tighter cost-per-place than bespoke; the trade-off is design-flexibility, which is constrained by the standard.
Why the April 2026 intake closed
The April 2026 nomination window closed once expected case-load filled the published envelope. NAO January 2025[NAO] highlighted the maintenance backlog driving demand. The Department has not yet announced when the next intake will open.
Interaction with CF25
SRP schemes are tendered through CF25 contractor lots[CF25]. Standard designs run through specific MMC / repeat-design lots; bespoke SRP schemes (for example unusual SEN schools) run through the high-value bespoke lot.
Nomination evidence
Eligible trusts and LAs nominate schools based on condition surveys aligned with succession-of-CDC2 evidence[NAO], RAAC[RAAC] confirmation, structural risk and educational performance.
