Standalone sixth-form block of 250 places, sitting alongside an existing 11-16 secondary or as a separate sixth-form college unit.
Sixth-form vs 11-16 cost shape
A sixth-form block carries less PE / sports hall load than 11-16 (often borrowed from the main school) and more study / IT / common-room area. The result is a different mix: lower volumetric play / sports cost, higher fitted-furniture and AV cost. £/m² runs a touch above 11-16 secondary; £/place is markedly lower because pupils need less GIFA per head than 11-16[BB103].
Eligible funding routes
Sixth-form expansion is eligible for the DfE 16-19 Capital Fund[16-19 capital] and, where condition-driven, CIF[CIF]. SRP[SRP] can include sixth-form where the host secondary is being rebuilt.
